Obituary for Charles Salvatore Edgar

Charles  Salvatore   Edgar
Charles Salvatore Edgar, age 63, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side during the early morning hours of April 2nd. Charlie was born in Newark and was a long-time resident of Monmouth Beach and West Long Branch, NJ and most recently of Elkton, MD.

He graduated from Roselle Park HS. Charlie went on and spent most of his career at Lucent Technologies in Lincroft, NJ and most recently at ManTech in Belcamp, MD. He was extremely proud of his work but was most passionate about being a true steward for his family, something that he treasured so dearly. Charlie was kind, selfless, compassionate, and made others around him laugh often. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.

Surviving are his wife Joanne Edgar and his son Frankie Edgar and wife Renee, together with his children William J. Herrmann and his wife Nicole, Caryn Cozza and her husband Matthew, Cheryl Reed and her husband Brian, and Christine Saum and her husband Matthew. Charles is also survived by his 16 loving grandchildren, his brothers Bill and Mike and sisters Marie and Janet.

Charlie is predeceased by his mother Florence and father William.

The viewing will take place on Thursday April 5th from 4pm-8pm at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., in Brick, NJ. A mass will be held on Friday, April 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Visitation RC Church, 730 Lynnwood Ave. Brick, NJ.
