Nicholas Edward "Mr. Prime"  LoVarco
Nicholas Edward LoVarco, “Mr. Prime” 81, of Wall, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 6, 2018, at his home. Mr. LoVarco currently was the owner / operator of Mr. Prime Old Tyme Butcher in Manasquan. He was the original owner of Tom Bailey’s Gourmet Market in Spring Lake and prior to that he owned Tom’s Meat Market in Gramercy Park with his father for over 65 years. He was named “Best Butcher” in New Jersey. He was a communicant of St. Catharine’s RC Church in Spring Lake where he was a devoted usher at the 10:30 AM Mass. He was a member of the Belmar Fishing Club in Belmar, the North Shore Antique Car Club, and the Manasquan Elks Lodge #2534. Mr. LoVarco was the kindest, friendliest and sweetest man in the whole world.
Born in Brooklyn, NY he grew up in Elmont, Long Island before moving to Wall 30 years ago.
He was predeceased by his son, Thomas Joseph LoVarco in 1993; parents, Thomas and Angelina LoVarco; sister Sarah Carson; brother, Anthony LoVarco in 2016; and sister, Lorraine Grizlo in 2016. Surviving are his loving wife, Nancy (DiComo) LoVarco; children, Barbara Ann LoVarco of Kings Park, NY, Joseph N. LoVarco and his wife, Rosemarie of Wall, Randall Etheredge of Greenwich, CT and Warren Etheredge of Seattle, WA; sisters, Beatrice Mascola of Brooklyn, NY and Gloria Barossi of Hamilton; and grandchildren, Joseph, Bryan, Francesca, Nicholas, Thomas and Eva.
Visiting will be on Tuesday from 4-8pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday 10:30 AM at St. Catharine’s RC Church in Spring Lake. Burial will follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery in Wall. Donations in Mr. LoVarco’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
