Lorraine Durst  Finan
Lorraine Finan, 88, of Seabrook Village, and formerly of Spring Lake Heights, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Finan (nee Durst) was born and raised in the Vailsburg section of Newark. She raised her family in Short Hills and Spring Lake Heights before retiring to Seabrook Village 10 years ago. She graduated from Benedictine Academy High School and attended the College of St. Elizabeth. She enjoyed a successful career in retail sales with Lord & Taylor, Hahnes and later with Sealfon’s, at The Grove in Shrewsbury, where she enjoyed coordinating the store's fashion shows. She was a woman of great Faith. She loved the beach, shopping, classic movies, reading on her Kindle, good food and, of course, her favorite cocktails.

Mrs. Finan was predeceased by her beloved husband, Oliver, in 1983, by her daughter, Gail Morrison, in 1999, and her sister-in-law Marilou Finan in 2008. She is survived by her children, Robert Finan and his wife, Diane, of Fair Haven, Denise Finan, of Belmar, and Lisa Finan and her partner, Bill Connellan, of Brielle. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband, Corey Wagner, Patrick, Christopher, Michael and Conor Finan, and Lauren, Luke and Liann McDonald. Also surviving are Mrs. Finan’s sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Phil Van Sant, of Fl, her brothers-in-law Bernard Finan and his wife Gael, and Paul Finan and his wife Teddy, plus many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Thursday, April 12, 2018, from 3-6 PM. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake, on Friday, April 13, 2018, at 10:30 AM, followed by interment at St. Catharine’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Finan’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
