Joan Rosemary (McKenna) Bishop, 89, of Point Pleasant Boro passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 14, 2018 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Bishop retired in 2002 as a realtor with Weichert Realtors in Point Pleasant Beach. She was a member of Weichert’s President’s Club and Million Dollar Club. Prior to her time at Weichert Realtors, she was a former partner of Berg, Brown & Lewis Realty in Point Pleasant Beach. Mrs. Bishop also was the owner of the Normandy Inn Restaurant in Normandy Beach. When her children were young, she managed their modeling careers in NYC. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in Bay Head, a graduate of Benedictine Academy in Elizabeth, NJ, and a graduate of Edgewood Park Secretarial School in Briarwood Manor, NY. She was a member of The Spring Lake Golf Club.
Joan was a world traveler and was especially fond of her time spent in Saint Martin. She also spent many winter’s in Jupiter, Florida, and enjoyed spending time with her family on the beach, by the pool, or on the boat. She also enjoyed taking in many Broadway shows in New York City.
Born in Newark, she grew up in Irvington and lived in Livingston and Mantoloking before moving to Point Pleasant, NJ in 2002.
Mrs. Bishop was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Robert Lewis, Jr. in 1996, second husband, Robert Bishop in 2011; daughter, Carol Lewis in 2009; and by her brothers, Edward and Jack McKenna. Surviving is her sister, Maureen Pizzi of Livingston; her adult children, Joseph Robert Lewis III and his wife Dale of Orlando, FL, Edward J. Lewis of Spring Lake Hts, Mary Ellen Lewis of Brick, Patricia Florio and her husband Vincent of Point Pleasant, Jane Keegan and her husband Robert Jr. of Haddonfield, and Matthew P. Lewis and his wife Joanne O’Shaughnessy of Brick; 13 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 10am to 11am at Sacred Heart RC Church, Bay Head. A Memorial Mass will be offered 11am on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Sacred Heart RC Church, Bay Head, NJ. Final entombment will take place privately at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall. Donations may be made in her name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Foundation.
