Obituary for John F. Kenny

John Francis Kenny, 87, son of Thomas and Mary Kenny, died Thursday, April 19, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Orange, NJ and continued to reside in NJ before moving to Hilton Head Island, SC, 21 years ago. He attended La Salle Military Academy and University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business (’52). John proudly served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was owner of the Kenny Press in Newark, NJ until his retirement in 1997. John was very active in the Printing Industry of Metropolitan NY/NJ and Knights of Columbus. In addition, he was a Boy Scout leader of Troop 10, a former Commodore of Normandy Beach Yacht Club, Golf Chairman at Essex Fells Country Club, supported local Catholic churches, and also enjoyed participating in community theatre.

John was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and Bill, his sisters, Mary and Lucy, and his son, Matthew. Surviving are his wife, Sandra J. Kenny, his sister Helen Motzenbecker, his children and their spouses; Carol Parker (Will), John Kenny (Tammy), Mark Kenny (Martha), Kevin Kenny (Doris), Maryann Olsson, Peter Kenny (Kathleen), Jeffrey Kenny, and Christopher Kenny (Alexis), stepson Clifford Tribus and stepdaughter Laura Hingle (John), and 16 grandchildren.

Visiting will be Friday, from 4-8 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd, Wall. A Funeral Mass will be Saturday, 10:30 AM at St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake. Committal will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Volunteers in Medicine, Hilton Head Island, SC www.vimclinic.org.
