Obituary for Valerie M. "Val" Jackson

Valerie “Val” M. Jackson, 82 died May 1, 2018 at Healthsouth Rehab. Hospital in Tinton Falls.
Valerie was born in Fitkin Hospital, Neptune, N.J. She was raised in Spring Lake where she graduated from grammar school and went on to graduate from Manasquan High School.
Valerie also graduated from Wagner College and Monmouth University where she received her Master’s degree.
She was an elementary school teacher all of her adult life. She taught in Neptune City, Monmouth Beach, and for many years in West Long Branch where she lived and raised her family. She later moved to Eatontown where she lived her until the time of her death.
Valerie loved sports. She played tennis at Monmouth Beach bath & Tennis Club where she was a member for over 40 years. She also played golf at Colonial Terrace Golf Club after her retirement from teaching. For many years she happily participated in two ladies Golf leagues on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. This became her favorite activity.
Valerie was a voracious reader and considered the West Long Branch Library her 2nd home. She was a longtime member of a local domino-playing group and a Birthday Dinner group comprised of longtime loyal friends.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in West Long Branch.
Valerie was predeceased by her sister Edna Carlson, her parents Martha and John Jackson and her niece Cheryl Dunfee.
She is survived by two sons, John Camassa of Freehold and Jay Camassa of Eatontown and her 3 grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, followed by a Funeral Service on Monday at 10:00am at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. She will be laid to rest in Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport.
