Barbara Kane (nee Owendoff) died at her Manasquan home surrounded by her loving children. Barbara was born in Brooklyn, NY to Harold and Helen Owendoff. She was raised in Morris County and attended Morristown High School where she was Valedictorian of her class. Barbara received her B.S. degree form Immaculata College and her Masters degree in Chemistry from Seton Hall University.

Barbara lived in South Orange for many years where she was active at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. Barbara was a woman before her time and held several executive positions in the pharmaceutical industry as a successful chemist and administrator. Barbara moved to Manasquan in 1996 with her husband, Dr. Joseph Kane, the love of her life. They were married for fifty-years before Joe passed away in 2011. Following Joe's passing Barbara became extremely involved with St. Mark's Church in Sea Girt, serving as a lectern, eucharistic minister and treasurer of the Rosary Society. She also volunteered with the Asbury Park food pantry and many other local charities.

Barbara was the devoted mother of three children, Helene Otten (Mark), Kathleen Morrison (Peter) and Joseph Jr., (Debbie). She was fortunate to be blessed with six wonderful grandchildren who adored her, Peter, Caroline, Gary, Julie, Olivia and Thomas. She was a devoted and loving Grandmother.

Barbara is survived by three siblings, Judy, Stephen and John. She was predeceased by her brother Bob. She leaves behind many beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews and devoted and trusting friends. She will be missed by many for her wonderful spirit, dedication and tireless work ethic.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 4-8 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, May 30, 9:30 AM at St. Mark’s Church, 215 Crescent Pkwy. Sea Girt, followed by burial in St. Catharine Cemetery, Wall.
