Daniel J. McCarthy 73 of Wall, NJ died Sunday, June 10, 2018 at VA Hospice at Lyons, NJ. Born in New York, NY Dan grew up in Rockaway Beach, NY where he graduated from Mount St. Michael’s Academy and College of Santa Fe in New Mexico. Dan lived in Millburn and Holmdel before moving to Wall 15 years ago. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was vice president of sales and founding partner Eastern Data Products, Edison, NJ. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Rockaway Beach and a member of the Board of Trustees of AMIB for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing and golf. Dan was a parishioner of St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt.
He was predeceased by his parents Margaret Duggan McCarthy and Joseph F. McCarthy. Surviving are his beloved wife of 47 years, Mary Gillespie McCarthy, two sons, Brendan McCarthy of Farmingdale, NJ, Danny McCarthy of Wall, NJ, a granddaughter Maizey McCarthy, a brother Joseph McCarthy and his wife Laura of Odessa, FL. He also leaves his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law; Edward Gillespie and his wife Joanna, Chris Gillespie and his wife Barbara, Theresa Morrison and her husband Tom, John Gillespie and his wife Patti, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Visiting will be Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Funeral Mass will be Monday, 9:30AM at St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt, followed by burial in New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
