Yolanda M. Cortese, 76, of Brick passed away suddenly on Monday, June 18, 2018 at her home in the Greenbriar I community. Ms. Cortese was a marketing manager for K Mart in East Brunswick before retiring in 1998. She was a communicant of Epiphany RC Church in Brick. Yolanda loved spending time with her grandchildren, she took great enjoyment in watching them grow and attending their daily activities. She had a heart of gold that brought smiles to the faces of those around her. Her generosity extended to everyone who needed it, regardless of how big or small. She also enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City.
She was predeceased by her lifelong partner, Edward W. Dymanski in 2015; former husband, James M. Cortese in 2011; son, James A. Cortese in 2004; brother, Nicholas Spano; and sister, Barbara Malanga. Surviving are her son, Michael Anthony Cortese and his wife, Tracy of Howell; daughter, Lucille L. Kenmure and her husband, Edward of Brick; daughter-in-law, Carmen Cortese of Brick; sister, MaryAnn Darzentas of Saratoga, NY; 9 grandchildren, Daniela, Ryan, Amber, Jimmy, Anthony, Nicholas, Mikey, Isabella and Gabriella; as well as Edward Dymanski’s son, Edward Dymanski of Maine.
A memorial visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 11am Friday at Epiphany RC Church, Brick. Burial of cremains will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River. Donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Children Research Foundation.
