Obituary for Jean M. Dailey (Dailey)

Jean M. Dailey, 93, of Wall Township passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in 1924 in Newark, Jean was a lifelong resident of Belleville until moving to Allaire Country Club Estates, Wall Township, 12 years ago.
A 1942 graduate of Belleville High School, Jean received her bachelor’s degree from Newark State Teachers College and a Master’s in Education from Seton Hall University. She also took classes toward her doctorate at Seton Hall.
Jean taught at Public School #10 in Belleville, in the same third-grade classroom, for more than 50 years. By the time she retired, she had taught several grandchildren of her first students. After retiring, she volunteered with the school as a reading specialist, helping numerous children learn how to read. She also volunteered with the town of Belleville, teaching English to non-native speakers.
An avid reader, Jean also enjoyed vacationing at the Jersey Shore and swimming in the ocean. She was devoted to her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces and great grandnephews, serving as godmother to many of them. She was steadfast in her faith and supported many Catholic charities over the years.
Jean was predeceased by her parents John P. and Elizabeth Michie Dailey, her sister Mary Dailey Birle, and her niece, Marianne Birle. She is survived by her nieces, Mary Ellen Maffucci, Wall Township, and Marybeth McGinn, Andover, Mass., and her nephew Peter Birle and his wife Joann, Westfield, NJ; two grandnieces and seven grandnephews; and three great grandnieces and two great grandnephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at 9am at St. Margaret’s RC Church, Corner of 3rd and Ludlow Aves., Spring Lake, followed by burial in the Dailey plot in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
