Obituary for Leonard J. Bush

Leonard J. Bush
Leonard J. Bush, 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. Leonard was born in Bergenfield and lived in Carteret, Eatontown and Lakewood before moving to Mays Landing where he spent his final years near his loving daughter Catherine.
Leonard proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps in the 325th Fighter Group, known as the “Checkertail Clan” because of the checkered pattern on the planes’ tails, during WWII.
After returning from the service, Leonard graduated Columbia University with a BS in Engineering. He furthered his education at Fairleigh Dickinson University and graduated with an MBA while in his 50s. He retired from Ft. Monmouth, served as president of Leisure Village Kiwanis club and was an active member of the Leisure Village Golf Club. Playing golf, bowling, dancing and spending time with his extended family and friends were his greatest joys in life.
Leonard was predeceased by his first wife Helen (Ward) Bush, his second wife Rosalyn (Stega) Bush and his loving companion of 17 years Jane (Stadelhofer) Tackett.
Surviving are his loving daughter, Catherine Iocona and her husband Bruno of Brigantine, NJ, his sister, Marjorie Engstrum of Hurricane, UT and many nieces and nephews. He was loved and respected by his grandchildren Peter, Sandra, Veronica, and Mark, his 5 great-grandchildren, as well as Jane’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who adopted him as theirs late in his life and gave him great joy.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 5-7PM at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick.
