Rita Louise Omar 72 of Spring Lake Hts., NJ died Friday, July 20, 2018. Born in Bronx, NY, Rita lived in New York City, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt and summered in Spring Lake Hts. every year before moving permanently to Spring Lake Hts., in 1997. Rita was a world traveler who enjoyed taking European tours with her friends and cousins, and visiting Canadian relatives up north. She was bi-lingual in Spanish and Arabic, and worked with her dearest friend Dr. Julie Hadeed at the Montessori School in Kuwait. She was also a bi-lingual Spanish-English executive assistant. Rita enjoyed walking the boardwalk and volunteering in Nursing Homes. She was a very spiritual person, practiced yoga, involved in Soulful Awakening, once meditated in the pyramids, took Reiki classes, and was also a qualified reflexologist. Rita was ahead of her time as a pioneer of health and nutrition, going totally organic in the 1980’s.
She was predeceased by her sister Agnes “Ginger” and her dog Taffy. Surviving are her husband of 43 years Samir A. Omar and their daughter Karima Omar.
Visiting will be Friday, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, 9 AM at St. Catharine Church, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake. Committal will be private.
