Condolence: I was a yeoman on board the USS Estes in the 60's and a friend of Bill's. I was just looking up his name and rather stunned to see his obituary. He served as a yeoman in the Legal office and I was a yeoman in the operations office next door. we spent numerous shore leaves together in various ports. Bill was a good man, meticulous at his job, which was required in the legal office where he was the one and only enlisted man. I served one tour of Vietnam on a Westpac cruise with him before being discharged early to go on to college. my sincere condolences. Altogether we probably served 18 months together. Condolence: I was saddened to hear of Bill's untimely passing. Although I did not know him at Chase, I worked with him at Moody's post 9/11 where he participated and oversaw several credit committees on bond ratings for energy corporate clients. He was fair in his deliberations and had a kind gentle heart, able to see the human side of things. I will always have fond memories of our days working together.

We will miss having you Bill.

Condolence: I am so saddened by Bill’s passing. I first met Bill in Paris in 1976 and then I occasionally would see him around the bank and at Chase events. He had a wonderful personality, with a ready smile and always a kind word. I will always remember him. May he rest in peace.

Condolence: Bill was my mentor, my work colleague but most importantly he was my friend. He was the person I turned to for answers, for support and for advice. I am so lucky to have had him in my life. I miss him dearly.

Condolence: So very sorry to hear of Bill's passing.

I worked with him in the mid-1980's in the Media & Communications division at Chase.

Of all the kind and decent people at Chase, Bill was one of those at the top of the heap.
He shared his knowledge of the advertising industry with me and I was fortunate enough to be invited to several agency luncheons by him.

My condolences to his family.

Condolence: I will always remember Bill as much more than a work colleague. He is without doubt one of the most sincere, trustworthy and genuine person I have ever met. He was also one of the best credit minds I have worked with.

Bill taught me so much when I first started in credit at Chase. I will never forget when Bill and I travelled to San Antonio for a bank meeting - my first business trip at age 22. He treated me like an equal even though I knew so very little and we had fun traveling through east Texas visiting cable markets and eating chicken fried steak!

I remember how important his family was to him and how anxious he was to get back to them after a long couple days of meetings.

I was thrilled years later when I landed at Moody’s and saw a familiar face and he helped me learn the ropes again!

I will miss his quick wit and quiet and humble spirit. God has another angel.

Condolence: I was very sorry to hear about Bill’s passing. I worked with him at Chase from 1988 until he left the bank. He was a wonderful man and colleague. He would help out with anything I needed and was helpful in training me as a young analyst. During his last couple of years at JPM he and I sat next to each other and he would keep me laughing with jokes all day long.

I shared the news with many of our former colleagues by email and we have been having a “virtual” wake by email. Here are some of the comments that have been shared:

He was always such a pleasure to work with - really smart, dedicated, honest and funny. I have never forgotten his buying the large elf costume for Bruce Langenkamp when he was his "secret Santa" for one of Karen's Christmas parties - brilliant!

I didn’t work closely with Bill back then but I do remember the man was a gentleman and as a military veteran earned further respect.

I as well remember Bill fondly. And as I reflect on my career thus far, I will always be thankful for the opportunities I had in the TMT group to learn so much with a great group of people!

He was such a good person!

Bill was great to work with and a wonderful sounding board.

I really, really enjoyed working with Bill - he taught me the ropes on my first deal I worked on out of credit training and I stayed in touch with him through his Moody's days. This is a surprise. I have to say that of all the places I have worked over the years, this group of you that I first worked with at Chase has been of the highest caliber of integrity, know-how and passion for your job, your clients, and co-workers, and I wish I had appreciated that more. Bill was perfectly emblematic of that spirit, focused on client service and associate development. I will remember him fondly.

He was a lovely guy.

Really sad news about a wonderful guy

Sad news indeed, but sounds like a life well lived!

Sad news, indeed, arrived today, as did the wonderful remembrances of a fine group of people. Look at the people on Tracey's list. Twenty, even Thirty, years ago we all met as a group, united, respectful of one another, in a common cause. It’s incredible, yet very real, that we all shared a moment in time. We have moved on throughout, but at one time we all were together. Together with singular (or near singular) purpose. It's a wonderful thing and Bill was a part of that moment. Thank you, Bill, for your contribution and your light will continue to lead us on our journey.
