Maureen A. O’Connor, 85, of Brick passed away suddenly on Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. She was a beloved and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Maureen worked as a Drug and Alcohol counselor in Middlesex County early on in her career. She was a parishioner of St. Dominic’s RC Church in Brick. Maureen was devoted to God and was always looked upon for spiritual advice from her family and friends. Her insightful wisdom will be truly missed.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Maureen raised her family in East Brunswick before moving to Brick 12 years ago.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Jerome J. O’Connor in 2015; daughter-in-law, Elsie O’Connor; and sisters, Lucille McKearney and Kathleen Bradshaw. Surviving are her 5 sons, John O’Connor of Brick, Brian O’Connor and his wife, Susan of Monroe, Chris O’Connor and his wife, Lindsay also of Monroe, Darin O’Connor and his wife, Malin of Malung, Sweden and Kevin O’Connor and his wife, Denise of Brick; brother, John McKearney and his wife, Lana of Nixa, MO; and 6 grandchildren, Katelyn, Erin, Arianna, Gianna, Nora and Ellie.
Visiting will be on Saturday from 1-4pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A prayer service will be conducted at 2pm in the funeral home. Burial of Mr. and Mrs. O’Connor’s cremated remains will happen privately at St. Mary’s of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Maureen’s memory to the Wounded Warriors Project.
