Douglas  B  Colfer
Douglas B. Colfer, 56, of Howell, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018.

Doug was born in Perth Amboy and raised in Carteret. He also lived in Woodbridge before coming to Howell 10 years ago. He was employed for the last 15 years as a Maintenance Supervisor with Barnes & Noble. Prior to that was a truck driver. He was active in the community, serving as a volunteer Firefighter in Carteret and a Youth Soccer Coach in Woodbridge. He was also active with organizations at Gettysburg National Park. He enjoyed Notre Dame and Dallas Cowboys football and loved Indy car racing. He was also an avid motorcyclist who rode with the Blue Knights and was very involved with Habitat for Humanity. Doug was a dog-lover and also had a passion for grilling.

Doug was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Theresa (McKeon) Colfer.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Gregory and Roxann Colfer, of Alburtis, Pa., and Christopher and Kerri Colfer, of Douglassville, Pa. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Gregory and Hayden Colfer, as well as Baby Colfer, who will be arriving at any time. Doug is also survived by his long-time companion, Frances Fitzgerald, and her son, Tyler John Fitzgerald, of Howell, as well as his former wife and mother of his sons, Patricia Colfer, of Woodbridge, N.J. Also surviving are Doug’s sisters and brothers-in-law, Alicyn and Charles Donnelly, of Union, NJ, Kathleen and John Hinkle, of Simi Valley, Ca., and Kimberly and Walter Kiczek, of Wallkill, N.Y., as well as several nephews and nieces, and a great-nephew and great-niece.

Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, on Thursday, August 30, 2018, from 4-8 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Dominic’s Church, Brick, on Friday, August 31, 2018, at 10 AM. Private cremation will follow.
