Obituary for Josephine Monello (DeStefano)
Josephine Monello 91 of Wall formerly of Spring Lake died Sunday, August 26, 2018. Born and raised in Paterson, NJ Josephine lived in Woodland Park, NJ before moving to Spring Lake 38 years ago. She was a parishioner of St. Catharine/St. Margaret Parish in Spring Lake. She was a member of the Spring Lake Women’s Club and the Spring Lake Library Book Club. Josephine was the matriarch of her family, an excellent cook who had a passion for entertaining family and friends at her home and beach house. Her oil paintings will forever adorn our homes.
Josephine was predeceased by her parents; Giuseppe and Biagina DeStefano, her beloved husband Benjamin Monello, her loving son Neil Emanuel Monello, her sisters; Sylvia Corallo, Gloria Monello, her sister-in-law Dolores Monello and her brothers-in-law Joseph Monello and Ralph Corallo.
Surviving are her two daughters; Maria D’Errico and her husband James of Wayne, NJ, Joy Kane and her husband Richard of Wall, five grandchildren; Amy Pellegrini and husband Louis, Julie Palazzolo and husband Adam, Erica, Jacqueline and Benjamin Kane, and three great grandchildren; Zachary Pellegrini, A.J. and Dean Palazzolo. She also leaves her brothers-in-law; Frank Monello, Paul Monello, her sister-in-law; Patricia Monello and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting will be Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 4-8 PM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Funeral Mass will be offered Friday, August 31, at 10:30 AM at St. Catharine Church, 215 Essex Ave. Spring Lake, NJ 07762. Entombment will follow in St. Catharine Cemetery, Sea Girt. In lieu of flowers the Monello family requests donation be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
