Obituary for Edward B. Perry

Edward B.  Perry
World War II Veteran, Edward B. Perry, 92, passed away on Sat, August 25, 2018 in Brick, NJ.

Edward was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Pittsburgh, PA . He enlisted in the Marines at 18 and was awarded the Purple Heart for his heroic efforts on Iwo Jima. Upon his return he met and married his wife Catherine "Renie". In 1965 they moved to Turnersville, NJ where he raised his family and had a successful banking career.

For the past 14 years he resided in the GreenBriar Community in Brick, NJ and was active in the community including; St. Martha’s R.C. Church in Point Pleasant, a member of the Rotary Club in Bristol, PA, and member of the Brick Kiwanis Club. He was also a lifetime member of The Disabled American Veterans, Fifth Marine Division and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Ed was an avid dancer and a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.

Edward was predeceased by his parents, Samuel O. Perry and Ethel Hunter, sister Annette Perry, and his first wife, Catherine R. Perry

He is survived by his second wife, Gilda Haggerty Perry, his children Edward J. Perry (Marlane), Holly Battiste (John) and grandchildren Hannah Battiste, Bridget Perry, and Madeline Perry.

In accordance to his wishes, a private cremation took place. A memorial visitation will be held at O'Brien Funeral in Brick, NJ on Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 1-4PM.
