Veronica Piotrowicz, 91, of Bradley Beach, and formerly of Jersey City, passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.
Mrs. Piotrowicz was born in Jersey City, to the late William and Stephanie (Mazurowski) Rakowicz. She was a lifelong resident of Jersey City, who summered in Bradley Beach for many years, until moving there year-round 15 years ago. She was a Stock Transfer Supervisor at First Jersey Bank, Jersey City, for many years, before retiring. A devout Catholic, in Jersey City she was a parishioner and choir member at St. Anthony’s Church, and in Bradley Beach she was a parishioner at Church of the Ascension.
Mrs. Piotrowicz was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward, in 1971, by her son Francis, in 2015, as well as by two siblings, Irene Mackiewicz and Raymond Rakowicz. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Theresa and Thomas Wasko, of Schnecksville, Pa., and Richard and Patricia Piotrowicz, of Brightwaters, NY. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Meghan and her husband Dominic Gaetano, Richard and his wife Maureen Piotrowicz, and Katelyn Piotrowicz, and her great-grandchildren, Luke and Alice Gaetano, as well as her siblings, Eleanor Witkowski and Fr. William Rakowicz, S.J. Mrs. Piotrowicz was also the beloved aunt of many wonderful nephews and nieces.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Friday, August 31, 2018, from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Church of the Ascension, Bradley Beach, on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at 9:30 A.M., followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Piotrowicz may be made to National Kidney Foundation, at www.kidney.org, or American Heart Association, at www.heart.org.
