Eileen Corby, 90, of Lakewood passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Rose Garden Nursing and Rehabilitation in Toms River. Mrs. Corby was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, wife, sister and friend. She was a most devoted mother and faithful servant of God and Mary. We will miss her wisdom and wit, exhortations and humor, strength of will and humble spirit. May she rest in well-deserved peace, and be joyfully reunited in heaven with her loved ones. “How lucky I am to have someone that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
Eileen was born March 17, 1928 in Hoboken, N.J. and after marriage resided in Englewood, Jersey City, Union Beach, and Lakewood.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Arthur B. Corby in 1988; parents, Frank and Henrietta Rump; son, Charles R. Corby in 2016; daughter, Margaret Mary Corby many years ago; sisters, Lucille Fahey, Regina Reiner, and Janet Wall; and 2 grandchildren, Anthony Donnelly and Sarah Furnner. Surviving are her sons, Arthur P. Corby and his partner, Ellen Cornell of St. Petersburg, FL, Matthew G. Corby and his wife, Sherris of Dousman, WI, and Kevin T. Corby and his wife, Carol A. of Midlothian, VA; daughters, Joan T. Coppola and her late husband, Peter of Wall Township, Eileen Wallace and her husband, Raymond of Bethel, CT, and Susan Donnelly and her husband, Michael, of Hazlet; brother, Frank Rump, Jr. and his wife, Sis of Wildwood Crest; sisters, Margaret Maliff of Matawan and Bernadette Rump of Hoboken; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Visiting will be on Wednesday from 3-8pm at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday 11am at The Church of the Visitation, Brick. Burial will take place at St. Mary of the Lakewood.
