The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Loren Shoemaker can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence From: Michael S Mowchan
Condolence: Donna;

Sorry for your loss. I just found out that Loren passed away last year I had the pleasure of working for Loren at HSB from 8/15 to 4/16 and I enjoyed working for him in implementing the Sales & Marketing CRM at HSB. I believe my wife Kathy and I met you when Loren invited me to a NY Giants pre-season game. I miss his sense of humor, he was very demanding and I admired that! My wife and I give our condolences. Michael

Condolence: Donna and family.
There are no words to express our sadness at hearing of Larry's passing...….we are old college friends - John and Larry were frat brothers at F and M, and we have many, many silly and very fun memories which we will cherish. Please know we are thinking of you and sending our love and deepest sympathy...….Larry was a good man!

Condolence: I extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family for your loss.
I feel blessed to have known Loren over the many years we worked at Continental.
We did not see each other every day but when we did meet up he was always cheerful and had a great smiling face.
After a long time I was happy to see him again over the last couple of years at the annual Continental reunion.
Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.

Condolence: Donna, Tyler, and Kyle; my deepest sympathies. Thoughts and prayers are with you. Loren was a terrific mentor to me and a great friend. He was always there for advice, and never missed an opportunity to provide the family update.

He shared his guiding principles a number of times (and posted online), so I’m sharing those:
Never be in a job that is more than two levels away from the clients that generate the profitable revenue that supports your business;
Trust but verify - delegate and challenge your staffs;
When hiring, surround yourself with excellence; avoid those who lack passion for life;
Touch at least one client each and every day;
Promote from within your team;
Family first!

His last note to me, “Retirement is an enjoyable endless summer for us - Naples in winter is paradise - back up in our Jersey Shore house for the summer, Tyler gets married June 9 - fun times, Staying busy with volunteer work - very rewarding.”

Condolence: I worked with Loren during his time at Munich RE/HSB. During one of our meetings, the participants were asked what their dream job was. Loren's answer....a teacher. Loren taught me so many life lessons:

*family first (he loved his family and was proud of all of you)
*form lasting relationships
*care for others
*work hard for what you want
*do your best at whatever you do

May the sorrow you feel in your heart be lightened by the love that surrounds you.
