Andrew A. Connolly, born on June 13, 1929 passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home in Brick, NJ on Sunday, September 2, 2018. Andrew was an active member of Saint Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church for many years. He was retired from Public Service Electrical and Gas Company and enjoyed working part time at Rite-Aid in Brick during his retirement. He was a member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Dumont, NJ as well as a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge – 1477 in Bergenfield, NJ. Andy was a man of few words but quick-witted with a wonderful sense of humor his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid walker, enjoyed traveling, and found immense reward serving throughout his life in various community services. He loved sports, especially baseball, and was an umpire for over 25 years.
Andrew was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Connolly, and son, Daniel J. Connolly in 2017.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary (Nolan) Connolly; children, Donna M/ Alcorn and husband Charles, Andrew A. Connolly and his wife Diana, Michael F. Connolly and his wife Kathleen, Mary Ann Connolly, ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at St. Dominic’s R.C. church, 250 Old Squan Road, Brick, NJ. Entombment will take place at St. Anne’s Cemetery, 1610 Allenwood Rd., Wall Township, NJ 07719. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
