Obituary for William Tobey

William Tobey, 80 of Wall Township and a lifelong resident of Bayonne passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Care-One at Wall after bravely fighting a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

He is predeceased by his loving wife, Patricia Ann “Patsy” nee Brunner, of 34 years in 1992, his parents Margaret (nee McGeehan) and Anthony Tobey, and his brothers Anthony, James and John and his sister Delores.

He is survived by his brother Joseph and sisters Ann Marie and Margaret, 5 children William, Mary Ann, Judith Ann, Kenneth and Patrick, his 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as well as his girlfriend, Arlene Dooley of 21 years.

Bill attended Bayonne High School, was a veteran of the US Army and was a lifelong resident of Bayonne until moving to Wall Township after the death of Pat. He greatly enjoyed Monmouth Park Racetrack and the Jersey Shore.

Bill earned a First Class FCC license and worked for NBC Sports for over 30 years televising notable events such as World Series, Super Bowls, Stanley Cup, NCAA Basketball and Football Tournaments and the Olympics. He was nominated for over a dozen Emmy Awards for Technical achievements.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 800 Ocean Ave, Long Branch, NJ, 07740. No prior visitation is being held at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, NY, NY 10018.
