Obituary for Eugene A. Biroc

Eugene A.  Biroc
Eugene A. Biroc, 91, of Brick, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018.
Mr. Biroc was born and raised on Staten island, to the late Andrew and Amelia (Mohr) Biroc. He was a lifelong resident of the West Brighton section, before moving to Brick 22 years ago. After graduating from Curtis High School, he enlisted in the Navy, and after finishing radioman training, was preparing to go overseas when WWII ended. He went on to join the NYPD, where he served briefly before transferring to the FDNY, where he served for 23 years, primarily with Ladder 78 on Staten Island and was decorated for saving the life of a baby while fighting a fire. Upon retiring from the Fire Department, he worked in several stores on SI as a locksmith. He was a member and served as Commander of Staats American Legion Post on Staten Island, and the attended St. Mary’s Episcopal Church while on SI, where he served in the Vestry and later attended St. Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church in Point Pleasant. He also enjoyed bowling throughout his life.
Mr. Biroc was predeceased by his beloved wife, Frances (Ahearn), as well as by his sister, Marjorie Furlong. He is survived by his children, Lynda Biroc-Paul, of Brick, Clifford Biroc and his wife Nancy, of Spotswood, Jeanne Biroc, of Brick, and Stephen Biroc and his wife Nancy, of Hamilton. Also surviving are his 10 grandchildren, 2 nieces, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 5, 2018, at 10 A.M., followed by burial at Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rescue Ridge (Saving Pets by the Jersey Shore) via www.rescueridge.com or the NYC Firefighter's Burn Center Foundation.
