Obituary for Austin F. Behnken

Austin F. Behnken, 75, of Neptune Township, passed away at home on Thursday, October 18, 2018, after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of New Jersey and attended Brookdale Community College where he received an Associates of Science Degree. Austin worked as a Registered Nurse for 25 years before retiring to work with friends as a local realtor.
Austin enjoyed walking in the woods, on the beach and through the neighborhood. He enjoyed fishing with his lifetime friend Bill Donovan, who died two years ago and was greatly missed.
Austin is survived by his wife Marie; Son Sean, Daughter Beth and her husband Steve, Son David and his wife Veronica; Mother and Father-In-Law Helen and James Black; Grandchildren Annabella, Aubrey and Noah; Godchild Jennifer; Sisters: Janet, Maureen, Mary and her husband Nick, Dolores and her husband Frank; and many nieces and nephews whose stories and company he always enjoyed.
Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall, on Sunday, October 21, 2018, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Church, Sea Girt, on Monday, October 22, 2018, at 9:30 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital would be appreciated. Condolences may be sent via www.obrienfuneralhome.com.
