Obituary for Alexander Frank Ix Jr.

It is with great sadness that the family of Alexander Frank Ix Jr., 87 of Spring Lake, NJ announces his passing on September 28, 2015. He was the beloved son of Alexander F. Ix Sr. and May Hill Ix. He was born in Hoboken, NJ and lived in North Bergen, NJ, Englewood, NJ, Vero Beach, Florida and Spring Lake, NJ. He was a graduate of Englewood School for Boys and Princeton University in the Class of 1949. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He spent his entire business career at Frank Ix & Sons a family owned textile company and became its President in 1970. Alex married the love of his life Annrose Collins in 1952 and they had six children Alexander III, Constance, Melissa ( Todd Potter), Sarah (predeceased) (Mark Stephens), Charles (Justine Montgomery) and Mark. He was the cherished Pop-Pop of 10 grandchildren- Alexandra, Nicholas and Sarah Louise Pedersen; Madeleine, Rosemary and Alexander Ix; Sebastian, Charlotte and Lucy Ix and Cameron Stephens. He joins his sisters Mary Ix Gaynor and Barbara Ix Leis. He is survived by his brother Douglas, his wife Barbara (Braun) and his nieces Mary, Christine and nephew Douglas Ix. He leaves his loyal poodles, Benedict “old friend” and Cairo. He was an avid sportsman playing tennis, golf, skiing and croquet. He was a member of the Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club, Spring Lake Golf Club and New York Athletic Club. He was a past President of the Green Gables Croquet Club and was inducted into the Croquet Hall of Fame in 2010. He will be lovingly remembered for his boundless generosity, sharp wit and matinee idol good looks. Alex was a man of infinite class - a true gentleman.
