Obituary for Gerald W. Ihde Sr.

Gerald W. Ihde Sr., 95, of Spring Lake Heights, NJ, formerly of Little Falls, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday June 5, 2016 at Jersey Shore Univ. Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. A longtime resident of Little Falls, N.J., Jerry was an aerospace engineer, a loving husband and with his wife, raised four children. Jerry was an avid gardener, golfer and enjoyed painting and stained glass. Born in Newark, NJ, he often vacationed at the Jersey Shore where he met his wife, Dorothy. Jerry served in World War II in the Army Air Corp in the China-Burma-India Campaign. Afterwards, Jerry earned a degree in Chemistry from Seton Hall University and was employed by Bendix in Teterboro and Singer-Kearfott in Little Falls until he retired from the industry in 1992.
Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth in 1993. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy of Spring Lake Heights, sons, Warren and wife Helen, grandchildren Kristen and Kevin; son, Thomas, and grandchildren Fiona and Liam; and son, Christopher. Jerry was a loving husband, dedicated father, and adored grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, 10:30 AM at St. Margaret Church, Spring Lake. Donations may be made in the name of Gerald Ihde to the Spring Lake First Aid Squad, P. O. Box 94, Spring Lake, NJ 07762.
