Frank E.  Zimmermann
Frank E. Zimmermann, 93, of Spring Lake Hts., NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at home. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Frank lived in South Orange, NJ before moving to Spring Lake Hts. 23 years ago. Frank served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II and a graduate of Seton Hall University. He was Vice President of Connolly Distributing, North Arlington, NJ for over 42 years. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows, South Orange, NJ for 40 years where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Choir. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in South Orange. He joined St. Catharine’s Church in Spring Lake when he moved to the shore. Frank was very devoted to the Boy Scouts earning many Catholic scouting awards including the Silver Beaver Award, the Bronze Pelican and the St. George Medal. He was also given the Scoutmaster Award for outstanding leadership as well as the Catholic Layman of the Year award.
Frank loved to travel and relished his many trips with family and friends. He enjoyed all kinds of music and could be found with a microphone in his hand singing songs with those he loved. He was the life of every party and considered his birthday and Father’s Day to be the two most important days of the year.
Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather, beloved scoutmaster and friend to many. He was predeceased by his parents, Ignatius and Helen and his loving grandson, Billy Zimmermann. Frank is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Bernadette, three loving children; Marydette Holt and her husband Rick of Scotch Plains, Bud Zimmermann and his wife Susan of Far Hills, Bob Zimmermann and his wife Kate of Livingston. He also leaves 10 adoring Grandchildren; Brian Schiller and his wife Jessika, Kiersten Schiller, Meghan, Kaitlin, Shannon, Shawn, Brian, Casey, Kelly and Elizabeth Zimmermann.
Visiting hours will be Saturday from 1-5 PM and Monday from 9-10 AM at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 10:30 AM at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake. Interment will follow in St. Anne Cemetery, Wall.
