Obituary for Michael J Kenny Jr.

Michael  J  Kenny Jr.
Michael J. Kenny, Jr.. Age 82, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at home after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease, with his loving wife Barbara at his side. Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Michael Sr. and Marie Luby Kenny, of Roscommon, Ireland.
Michael graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx and John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York. He was a veteran of the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the NYPD for 22 years and retired as an Anti-Crime Sgt. in 1981. He then was employed at Fordham University and retired in 1993 as the Director of Security for both the Rose Hill and Lincoln Center Campus.
Married in 1960, Mike and Barbara raised their four children in Suffern, NY and resided there for 33 years before moving to Brick, NJ 18 years ago.
He is predeceased by his parents, and his brother Eugene Kenny.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Barbara Inglese Kenny; and their children and spouses, Christine and Timothy Dooley of Jacksonville, FL, Michael and Lisa Kenny of Brick, NJ, Joanne and Jack Garvey of Robbinsville, NJ and Stephen and Cam Kenny of Jacksonville, FL.
He also is survived by his seven cherished grandchildren, Patrick, John, Kyle, Corinne, Sean, Michael and Claire and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May, 19, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday, May 20th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Martha’s RC Church, Point Pleasant. Cremation is private.
