Obituary for Evelyn E Hyer (Allen )

Evelyn Elisa Hyer, age 102, of Brick, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2017. She was born and raised in Basking Ridge.

Evelyn graduated from Bernard’s High School and earned her RN from Christ Hospital in Jersey City. She worked as an RN at Margaret Hague Hospital before starting her family.

Most of her adult life was spent in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ where she was active in the Methodist Church and the Contemporary Women’s Club of Hasbrouck Heights including serving as President. She was also a member of the Bergen County Board of Realtors. She dearly loved the beach at Manasquan, NJ and spent many hours there before moving to Greenbriar in Brick.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband Warren C. Hyer in 2004.

Surviving are her son, Edgar Allen Hyer and his wife Sheila; her three grandsons, Edgar Kevin and his wife Julie, Kenneth Edward and his wife Courtney and Kevin Douglas Hyer; her greatgrandchildren, Natalie Lynn, Nolan Edgar, Ashley Jordan and William Randall.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 28, 2017 from 10-12 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel.
