Christie L.  Gartman (Young)
Christie L. Gartman, 70, of Wall, and Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away at her Wall home on Monday, August 21, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Gartman was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pa. After graduating from Penn State University and marrying John Gartman in 1969, she relocated to New Jersey. She was a resident of Middletown for many years, where she raised her family, before moving to Wall in 1999. Since 2013, Christie spent the majority of her time at her Florida home in Bonita Springs. She taught in Scotch Plains and Middletown for a number of years, prior to raising her sons. In Florida, Christie enjoyed various activities at the Shadow Wood Country Club including canasta, mahjong, cooking classes and most importantly spending time with her wonderful friends at a wide variety of social activities. Above all else she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and invaluable confidant to many family members.

Mrs. Gartman was predeceased by her parents, Christopher and Gwen (Smiley) Young. She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, John A. Gartman. She is also survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Karen Gartman, of Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J., and Drs. Eric and Jennifer Gartman, of Lincoln, R.I. She was the beloved grandmother of Jake, Reese, Ellie and Alex. Mrs. Gartman is also survived by her sister, Bonnie Young, of Grove City, Pa., and her sister and brother-in-law, Marsha and Dennis Burchard, of Guys Mills, Pa., as well as by many nephews, nieces, and friends.

Visitation will take place at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, on Friday, August 25, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, and on Saturday, from 10-11 AM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, at 11 AM. Final committal will take place privately.
