Obituary for Doris L. Campbell

Doris L. Campbell, 95, of Brick, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Saturday, October 21, 2017. A life well lived with dignity and grace, a peaceful goodbye.

Mrs. Campbell (nee Opdyke) was born in Somerville and raised in Irvington. She moved to Brick in 1957. She was remarkably dedicated and proud to be the Court Clerk for the Brick Twp. Municipal Court for 27 years before retiring in 1993. She was a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Brick Township Junior Sports League, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution , and a member of the Court Clerks Association of Ocean County.

Mrs. Campbell was predeceased by her son, James R. Campbell, Jr., in 2004, by her husband of 67 years, James R. Campbell, Sr., in 2010, and by her siblings, William, Jeanne and James. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Vieno Campbell, and Kevin J. and Kathleen Campbell, all of Brick. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Laurie Jeanne, Suzanne, Colin, Erica, Meghan, Ian, and Brian, and her great-grandchildren, Amelia and Keira.

Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, from 3-6 PM, with a service to follow at 6 PM. Cremation will take place privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Campbell’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, at www.cancer.org. Condolences may be sent via www.obrienfuneralhome.com.
