Obituary for John F Leonard Jr.

John F. (Jack) Leonard, Jr, age 77, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ. Born and raised in Newark, he lived in Mountainside for 32 years before moving to Wall nine years ago.

Jack worked as an accountant for many years retiring in 1998 from the NYC District Council of Carpenters Benefit Funds.

He was a communicant of St. Martha’s RC Church in Point Pleasant. Every January, he attended the Right to Life March in Washington, DC and was a benefactor for many years of Several Sources Shelters for mothers and their babies which supports homeless women and children. An animal lover, he was an advocate for animal welfare.

He is survived by his loving sister, Lorraine Tooker, his niece Clare Ferraro and her family, cherished family members, friends and neighbors and his beloved dog, Maggie.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 2-5 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 10th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Martha’s RC Church, Point Pleasant followed by the interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Several Sources.org., St. John’s Soup Kitchen.org., an animal shelter or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
