Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Mildred Doby can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Mildred Doby (Hofmann)

Mildred Doby, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017. Born and raised in Union, Mildred resided in Mantoloking for 35 years before moving to Acorn Glen Assisted Living Community in 2016.

Mildred was a communicant of Sacred Heart RC Church in Bay Head.

Mildred returned to the work force after raising her three children and held a few different positions as an Administrative Assistant. Before retiring in 1986 Mildred spent most of her employed years at Ciba-Geigy working for the Director of Art and Design.

Mildred was an active senior who loved to travel, play Bingo, knit and crochet. She and her husband, George, traveled the world extensively creating beautiful and lasting memories together. Mildred was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved being surrounded by family. Nothing was more enjoyable and special to her than playing, laughing, and bringing smiles to her grandchildren’s faces. All her family loved her dearly and she will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband George in 2016 and is survived by her children; Gregory J. Doby and his wife Kathryn of West Windsor, George G. Doby and his wife Linda of Lynchburg, VA and Anne B. Weber and her husband Joseph of Union; her eight grandchildren, Eric and Meredith Doby, Allyson Blythin, Elizabeth Hartstein, Mark and George Doby, Rebecca Samples and Emily Weber and her two great-granddaughters, Marie Blythin and Adalind Samples.

Viewing will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 5-9 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Rd., Brick. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 18th at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart RC Church, Bay Head followed by the entombment at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choosing in Mildred’s name.
