Obituary for William J. King

William J.  King
William J. King 87 of Wall, NJ died Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Spring Lake, William grew up in Allenhurst and Asbury Park before moving to Wall in 1959. Bill, as he was known to his friends, was a 1948 graduate of Asbury Park High School. Bill enlisted in the US Air Force and served during the Korean War Conflict. Rising to the rank of Sergeant, Bill often reminisced about his time stationed in the Tundra as a member of the Air Rescue Team, protecting Greenland, Labrador and the surrounding area he finished his four-year enlistment serving at the Air Force Base in Mitchell Field, NY where he was proud to have been appointed a member of the Honor Guard. Following his Honorable Discharge Bill married his sweetheart Jeanetta Cameron to begin family life and returned to work at the A&P where he retired in 1993 as a Dairy Head on staff at the Wall Township, NJ Store. Bill was a member of the UFCW Local 464 Union and the Allenhurst Volunteer Fire Department. A Roman Catholic, Bill was a parishioner of St. Rose Church, Belmar and most recently Holy Innocents Church, Neptune. Always a devoted and beloved son, brother, father and husband, Bill considered his family to be his most valuable treasure, often referring to his children as his Gold.
Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Jeanetta King in 1998, their daughter Betty Jean King Pindar in 2013, his siblings; Helen, Dorothy, Patricia and Robert. Surviving are his children Mary T. King, Virginia A. King, William C. King and William C.’s husband Felix M. Truex, granddaughter Shaunagh McGoldrick, sister in law Judith King and nieces Patricia and Ellen Vetrano and Susan and Karen Maresca.
Committal will be in St. Anne Cemetery, Wall, on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at a time to be determined (please check Funeral Home website). O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall, is in charge of arrangements, www.obrienfuneralhome.com . In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: www.Fightforsight.org
