Obituary for Oliver F. Reynolds

Oliver F. Reynolds, 94, of Brielle passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune. Mr. Reynolds was an engineer for the Department of the US Army at Fort Monmouth for over 35 years. Just before his retirement, Mr Reynolds was asked to become Project Manager for a manufacturing training facility at Camp Evans and was presented with the Commander’s Medallion for superior achievement for his work. After his retirement, he served as a consultant to various governmental agencies. He was a proud US Army Air Corps Veteran during WWII from 1942 – 1946. During a routine training flight, Reynolds’ plane crashed. He was seriously hurt and could no longer fly. He then volunteered for the Army Air Corps’ Floating Aircraft Maintenance Unit and was deployed to the Pacific where he saw action in and around Gaum, Tinian, Saipan, and Iwo Jima. After the War he graduated and earned his engineering degree from Pierce College which is now part of the CUNY educational system. He was a member of the Manasquan VFW #1838 and enjoyed playing golf every day well into his eighties.

Born in Spring Lake, He lived in Brielle, Spring Lake Heights, Ocean Twp. and Neptune before moving back to Brielle.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Elsie Reynolds; his sister, Doris Fisher; and by his former wife, Greta Morris.

Surviving are his niece, Carol Megill and her husband, Edgar of Wall, NJ; nephew, Ray Fisher and his companion, Juliane Hope, of Sante Fe, NM; as well as many loving grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews.

Visiting will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018, from 9am-10:30am at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall. A prayer service will be held at 10:30am in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. Donations may be made in his name to a charity of choice.
